How is it that a justice court judge can toss a person with a mere infraction in jail and hold them all day based on another proceeding in another court, when that other court, A DISTRICT COURT mind you, has already decided not to put her in jail for the same matter?!?
This same judge unjustly held my same client for an entire day in the justice court's holding cell last month after a hearing based on nothing more than what I can assume was to "teach her a lesson"!
From what I understand and my own experiences, this judge in this particular court has a habit of tossing people in holding cells and holding them indefinitely for little or no reason.
Luckily for my client, Salt Lake County Jail is pretty full and they don't seem to be keeping anyone that is not a violent criminal. So for her, it's catch and release.
